She wanted to do something special. Rosie — she wanted to do something special for the employees of Tabs the cat Industries, LLC. ever since she took over the reins from Tabs, Rosie’s wanted to show the staff how much she appreciates them. These are tough times, and she’s just so proud of everyone.

So, this year she decided to pull out all the stops with a Christmas party for the ages! Tabs himself would have been impressed.

First, the evening began with a holographic speech by Tabs himself! He previously recorded a number of Ted Talks, including one on maintaining a positive cattitude in the face of adversity, so that’s the one we showed.

It was great! The technology was pretty incredible. It was just like Tabs himself was addressing the team.

After that, everyone headed over to the company auditorium for the official Christmas perk presentation. This year, Rosie gave everyone a $9,000 bonus! Plus, every single cat and human got a Christmas ham, turkey, an extra large can of gravy, and their choice of a Christmas sweater or an air fryer.

The festivities wrapped up on the main lawn with a bounce house!

Yup, it was pretty incredible. I’m very proud to be an employee of this company.

Transitioning from Antiperspirant to Deodorant: Lavanila The healthy Deodorant

Transitioning from Antiperspirant to Deodorant: Lavanila The healthy Deodorant

Finally, the third part of my three-part series in transitioning from antiperspirants to deodorants. Today I’m examining the Lavanila The healthy Deodorant in Vanilla Grapefruit:

It retails for $17 CAD for a sizable 57g of solid deodorant stick. In Canada, I’ve only seen Lavanila deodorants sold at Sephora.

To recap, I’ve been on the journey to transition from antiperspirants to deodorants considering that January. After a bit of starts and stops (I gave up after a week of feeling wet and stinky), but after trying other deodorants, I finally persisted with the transition. and I’m pleased to say that I’ve been using only deodorant 100% of the time for an entire month now! What really helped was using the Lavanila The healthy Deodorant.

This deodorant is probably one of the a lot more well-known natural options on the market and has won multiple appeal awards. The claims of this deodorant are:

Finally, a natural deodorant that works. get remarkable odor protection with this 100 percent natural, freshly scented deodorant. Soothing essential oils blend with beta-glucan technology fight odor successfully while soothing, conditioning, and nourishing the delicate underarm area.

I do have to say, this is the most soothing deodorant of the 3 that I tried. It has a creamy texture, nearly like applying a hydrating balm to my underarms. This was especially crucial to me considering that I’m still doing laser hair removal on my underarms and recently, after a session the area was a little bit tender, but I had no issues using this on the skin.

Key Features:
• goes on clean, with no sticky wetness
• Delivers long-lasting results
• Clinically checked and dermatologist recommended
• No extreme Chemicals (free of aluminum, paraben and propylene glycol)

I wasn’t aware that I need to be avoiding propylene glycol! Were you aware of this? There’s always something out there to be wary of… but do read up on the counterpoints too.

As for the claims? I’d say it delivers on them! It applies very cleanly and dries down swiftly so I’m able to get dressed within the minute. It does leave a minor white cast on dark clothes, which is normal of a lot of stick-type deodorants. Lately it’s been incredibly hot in Toronto – with the humidity it feels like 38°C (100ºF) and the deodorant has kept me stink-free every single day!

Another draw of this deodorant is the smell! Vanilla Grapefruit? get out of town! The scent is described as:

An Uplifting Citrus. essential oils of crisp grapefruit and lime combine for a crisp and fresh feeling.

I’d say it’s equal parts vanilla to grapefruit, neither overpower each other and it’s not overly sweet or tart. The scent isn’t so strong that it would interfere with your perfume, but I do catch a whiff of it during the day if I’m flailing my arms about.  There are also 4 other scents available: Pure Vanilla, Vanilla Lavender, Vanilla Coconut, and Fresh Vanilla Lemon. I’m split between either Vanilla Coconut or Fresh Vanilla Lemon to try next.

I’ve been using this on and off for the months of April and May, then the whole month of June – so in total, I’d say this is a full 2 months’ worth of usage. and I have this much left:

My guess is that a stick will last around 5 months of daily use.  Not too bad, cost-wise: $17 ÷ 5 = $3.40 per month.  And yes, the tube swivels up and down, no issues!

One thing I did notice though, for a natural product, the ingredient list is quite long:

Ingredient list:
Aloe barbadensis leaf juice (Aloe juice, water/aqua), Propanediol (Corn derived), Zea mays (Corn) starch, Sodium stearate (Coconut derived), Silica, Carrageenan (Seaweed derived), Stearyl behenate (Coconut derived), Citrus medica limonum (Lemon peel oil), Inulin (Artichoke derived), Saccharomyces ferment, Alpha-Glucan oligosaccharide (Sugar derived), Yeast beta glucan, Lonicera caprifolium (Honeysuckle) flower extract, Usnea barbata (Lichen) extract, Valeriana officinalis root extract (Valerian), Hydrastis canadensis (Goldenseal) extract, Melaleuca alternifolia (Tea tree) flower/leaf/stem extract, Lycium barbarum fruit extract (Goji berry), Vanilla planifolia (Vanilla) oil, Botanical fragrance blend.

This list consists of 3 times the ingredients of the other 2 deodorants I’ve used! But, the ingredients all look to be good – the only things that stands out as potential irritants are the lemon peel oil, and the added fragrance.

Here are some things I learned through this process:

• Sweating is not necessarily a bad thing: your body needs to cool off somehow, and a natural way is through the armpits. The worry is that the sweat can turn into B.O. That’s where an effective deodorant comes in.

• If you’re thinking of making the transition from antiperspirant to deodorants, try to time it during the cooler months – you will go through a phase of feeling wet and possibly stinky until you find the ideal product for you.

•Initially, instead of going cold turkey, try to alternate your antiperspirants and deodorant every other day. then the next week, try to use deodorant for 2 days and antiperspirants for 1, and so on. This helps with easing the transition slowly.

• Persist through those wet, stinky weeks.  Don’t give up. I went through weeks of needing to wash every single item I wore. I’d say my turning point was around the 3 month mark when I observed I wasn’t stinking anymore.

The Lavanila deodorant appeared in my much-loved post, and it’s absolutely my top pick of the 3 deodorants I tried as part of the transition.  So, is the hunt over?  I would absolutely repurchase this but I’ll wait until Sephora VIB time to get hold of it on sale. I’d love to explore a lot more deodorant options that are a lot more easily accessible both in terms of availability and cost. Do you have any recommendations for deodorants from the drugstore and / or costs less than $10?

Nuworld Botanicals Cold-pressed organic Sea buckthorn & Jojoba oil

Nuworld Botanicals Cold-pressed organic Sea buckthorn & Jojoba oil

In late August, I got a few products from Nuworld Botanicals to try:

I showed this in my August accountability post.
I did not choose the certain products – I explained a few of my likes as well as dislikes, together with my skin type as well as worries – as well as left it as much as Nuworld Botanicals to surprise me! Today I’m examining the very first product that I’ve been testing for the past month, the Cold-pressed organic Sea buckthorn & Jojoba oil:

If you’ve been a visitor of this blog, you’ll understand that I like oils for all kind of beautifying aspects: cleansing, hydrating as well as protecting. So exactly how does this oil from Nuword Botanical stack up against other oils I’ve tried?

It was like at very first use! You understand exactly how often you requirement to utilize a product a few times to type an viewpoint about it? Not with this. The very first night I utilized this, I already understood this product was a winner.

What made this so great? The texture. It’s like silk.  It takes in into my skin quickly, leaving my skin plumped as well as looking radiant!

What was in this magical golden potion?  I understood that cold-pressed oils are remarkable than hot-pressed oils considering that they maintain a lot more antioxidant as well as benefits. however I couldn’t find any literature for this product as well as there was no label on the back of the bottle. So I reached out to Natalie Cascella, the creator as well as president of Nuworld Botanicals for the low-down. She encouraged that this oil is a new product from their just recently opened Raw Skincare Bar as well as shop in Oakville (for non-locals, Oakville is a lovely suburban town about 40km south of Toronto) – the oil is so new that it’s not even offered for purchase on the internet yet. Here’s what’s in this product, in Natalie’s words:

The deal with oil is one of our 3 home blends called “Balancing deal with Oil Blend”- appropriate for ALL skin types.
It’s 100% natural as well as pure oil blend, hand-crafted with just 5 cold-pressed as well as organic oils as follows:
Cold-pressed organic Jojoba Oil, Seabuckthorn Oil, Rosehip Oil, Meadowfoam Oil as well as Safflower Oil.
It’s packed with natural anti-oxidants as well as vitamins A, C, E plus Omega 3, 6, 9; rich in important fatty acids (hence the plumping of the skin).
Use on deal with everyday – day as well as night. A bit goes a long way!

I only requirement 3 drops for my whole face.
I like that it consists of simple, sincere ingredients. as well as they work. I’ve been having some skin problems from travelling as well as the weather condition getting cooler – the structure of my skin felt rough as well as dehydrated. Over time, this oil assisted to bring back my skin as well as the structure has evened out.  I often utilize this alone, or if I requirement additional moisture, I’ll apply a night cream on top so this acts as a serum.

I likewise noted that this oil doesn’t leave a shiny surface on the skin. This got me believing – might I potentially utilize this oil for the day time? I made a decision to try mixing this into my foundation, which has been a hot appeal idea ever considering that Wayne Goss published this video last year.

I made a decision to test it with Illamasqua Skin Base, which is a thicker structure foundation that can look cakey if not sheered out properly.

The incorporation of the Nuworld Botanicals Cold-pressed oil worked very well for this function too. It made the foundation apply smoothly as well as my skin felt moisturized all day.  I’m so happy to have tried this oil!

Pros:
• Silky texture
• takes in quickly
• leaves skin plump
• Fragrance-free
• Natural, organic ingredients

Cons:
• Not widely available

Stash worthiness: 10/10

I always ask myself this concern if I get something for complimentary – would I repurchase this with my own money? as well as with the situation of this oil – YES, I would! This retails for C$28 for a 30 ml bottle which I believe is exceptionally reasonable. It is currently only offered at the Raw Skincare Bar, however will soon be offered for purchase on the internet if you’re not able to trip to the Oakville store. I quote a bottle would last around 6 months with everyday use.

Other Nuworld Botanical products are offered on the internet nuworldbotanicals.com, or from well.ca – I’ll be examining the other products I received coming up soon.

Note: this product was sent to me complimentary of charge and I developed my own thoughts as well as opinions about it.

Do you utilize a deal with oil?  Have you ever utilized a product as well as fell in like with it the very first time you utilized it?

New Revlon Mascaras: ultimate All-in-One as well as volume + length Magnified

New Revlon Mascaras: ultimate All-in-One as well as volume + length Magnified

I assumption I’m on a drugstore kick lately, yesterday with the Maybelline SuperStay foundation, as well as today I’m reviewing 2 Revlon mascaras from their recent revamp of their mascara offering:

• ultimate All-in-One (red cap)
• volume + length Magnified (blue cap)

I can’t keep in mind the last time I bought a Revlon mascara. perhaps the grow Luscious? That was years ago! as well as it never appealed to me sufficient to repurchase it. To me, Revlon excel at a great deal of products – foundation, lipstick, nail polish – but mascaras are not one of their strengths.  And mascaras are money cows for cosmetics business – exactly how often do we (“have to”) replace mascaras, as well as exactly how many mascaras do we seem to have open at when (if you have just ONE mascara open right now, please comment below, as well as I don’t believe you!)  It’s a very lucrative market at the drugstore – just look at exactly how wide the assortment is, as well as exactly how commonly business introduce new mascaras.

So it was about time that Revlon overhauled their mascara collection! as well as the new collection is extremely impressive, with formulas to cater to different needs: length, volume, both, drama:

They even called it a Mascara Revolution!

I chosen up the volume + length Magnified (blue cap) very first since I liked the look of the wand as well as I’m excited at the prospect of a mascara that provides both volume as well as length. It features a typical bristle wand that is rather full as well as somewhat larger than typical (but not jumbo sized).

For me, the formula delivers more on volume than length however it did provide decent length to my lashes. What impressed me most was that it might hold a curl, as well as it did not smudge beneath my eyes! There was a tendency to deposit clumps upon application however I am able to comb out the clumps with my metal lash comb.  The description states there are fibres in this formula however I didn’t notice any type of on the wand or my lashes.

The results were feathery lashes that almost rival what I can accomplish with CoverGirl’s LashBlast volume (but CG LB is more water resistant as well as voluminous).  I rate this 8/10

I ended up being thinking about the ultimate All-in-One (red cap) because of radiant evaluations on the internet about exactly how incredible the wand was, as well as exactly how excellent the formula was for lifting the lashes.  It features a silicone wand, with a mini brush head that’s oval shaped:

Is it me, or does the close up of the wand look like the underbelly of a cockroach…?
The formula is rather wet, as well as somewhat goopy. It was a genuine difficulty to not totally glue my lashes together – it made my 7 lashes look like 3! Also, I commonly got the mascara on my eyelids because of the wet formula, as well as even over time, it didn’t dry out to the point that it stopped being goopy. In terms of length as well as volume, it was just typical in both departments.  Here’s a situation where being Jack of all trades, means it’s master of none.

But, I can see why some people would like this formula, it holds a curl like a water resistant mascara does even though it’s not marketed as a water resistant formula. It likewise did not smudge under my eyes. Unfortunately, like water resistant mascaras, this irritated my eyes whenever I used it.  I rate this 6/10

They retail for C$10.99 each as well as I got mine during a 30% off sale.  Here’s exactly how these 2 Revlon mascaras rate against a few of my favourite mascaras:

Below are the official illustrations that demonstrate the results one can accomplish utilizing these mascaras (Ultimate All-in-One on the left, as well as volume + length Magnified on the right):

Source. I’d like to someday create an eye picture of my own eye to go along with my mascara reviews!

I have mixed feelings about the packaging. The tubes are unnecessarily bulky, I feel. But, I do like that they are not cylindrical so they don’t roll off a flat surface. And, I like the smooth look of the general collection with the matte tube as well as coloured caps to differentiate between the types.  I’m thinking about trying the drama one next, since the bristles look similar to the CG LashBlast, likewise perhaps since the cap is purple. as well as purple is my favourite colour.

Now please, Revlon, it’s time to upgrade your eye shadows. The old wet / dry formula, Mattes, or even the custom Eyes were great. The present choice isn’t doing anyone any type of favours.

Have you tried the new Revlon mascaras? What’s your present favourite drugstore mascara?

Bésame long Hair finishing Powder brush

Bésame long Hair finishing Powder brush

I mentioned the Bésame long Hair finishing Powder Brush as one of my favourites at the end of last year. Finally, I’m posting my review of this odd looking brush:
I bought this during the fall VIB Sale from Sephora last year, it costs $62 CAD / $50 USD.

The primary reason I bought this was – I’ll admit it – out of sheer curiosity! Firstly, the packaging is gorgeous:

The whole identity of the brand Bésame has an old-fashioned and vintage vibe. It achieved the vintage look without looking kitschy – the gold box with red accent look quite classy and time-appropriate:

The brush description from the box:

Bésame brushes are designed to bring back glamour and luxury to the process of creating your look – they make expert application effortless. designed to buff powder or cream with faux hair, it blends color with ease and glides effortlessly onto the skin. The handle is designed to resemble brushes available to Hollywood makeup artist during the 1930s. It is easy to grasp, comfortable and well balanced in your hand. wash hair only warm, soapy water as needed.

I own a lot of brushes but I don’t have one that looks like a dustpan brush!

The shape of the handle makes it really easy to hold, almost like brushing my hair.  The handle is made of plastic and the bristles are synthetic.

However, as odd looking at this brush is, I would not call this brush an original, as it is a fairly accurate reproduction of a vintage Max factor brush:

Even the box is similar! Source.
Besides the striking appearance of the brush, the other feature is how soft the bristles are! It feels feathery soft and the hairs aren’t bluntly cut so the ends of the brush are more diffused than the base.  I’m sure the bristles of that original Max factor brush was nowhere as soft as the Bésame!  This brush is also incredibly well-made – I’ve been using this for over 6 months and have not experienced any shedding at all.

I’ve tried applying blush, bronzer and face powder with this brush but I found it difficult to pick up and place product precisely.  For me, the best use of this brush is not for applying products, but rather, for removing excess product, and for blending large areas.  Remember this post on Instagram from a couple of weeks ago:

The Bésame long Hair finishing Powder brush is exactly the brush I would use to blend out blushes if I over-apply! You’d think I would only need to blend out my face once in a blue moon, but no, I reach for this brush quite regularly since I prefer a seamless look for my blush, contour, highlight and powder. Personally, I like to blend away or remove a portion of my makeup to dial down the “makeup-y” look – hence why I also like to spray with facial mist after powdering my face.  If you’re like me, you may find this brush to be helpful too. In fact, in my arsenal of brushes, I do own another brush that perform a similar function – the Ecotools face & Body sculpting Brush:

The bristle ends of the Ecotools brush is cut bluntly compared to the Bésame one, which means it drags the makeup slightly.  I prefer the Ecotools when I am blending out bronzer rather than blush / contour / highlight – bronzer doesn’t need as careful placement compared to the other face products.

Size-wise, they’re pretty comparable but I find the Bésame to be more versatile.  Bésame itself offer another similar style brush, the short Hair Contour brush which, as the name suggests, is for contouring. It has black bristles that are much denser and shorter:

Source.
One could say it’s pricey for a brush that is a “one trick pony” but I have an appreciation for Bésame’s design, and the fact that they’re not a large company so they aren’t gaining economies of scale.  However, I did note that this brush is made in China:

Which makes sense since I’ve noticed that the majority of brushes made of synthetic bristles are manufactured in China.

This is how my unwashed Bésame long Hair finishing Powder brush looks:

See the gradient colour of my blush at the tip and contour / bronzer at the bottom? When I sweep this brush across my cheeks to blend out, it makes it look like I put in more effort than I did!

Pros:
• beautiful design / packaging
• very soft bristles
• easy to wash / dries quickly
• No shedding
• Cruelty-free

Cons:
• Expensive
• Doesn’t pick up or deposit product well

Stash worthiness: 8/10

Bottom line: no one really needs this brush but it’s a helpful item to have on hand. I would equate this brush with my Guerlain Météorites – they’re high quality items that are a little bit of a show-piece, but they serve a unique purpose.

What beauty product do you have that you don’t absolutely need but you find useful?

Roar!

Did you hear that…? It was the call of the jungle, a call that Tabs answered quite often.

To the unassuming passerby, Tabs may have looked just like a regular old housecat, but inside he had the heart of a lion. He fancied himself as the King of the Jungle.

There were a few occurrences — some may call them skirmishes — where he had a power play with a lion or two on set, but thankfully because of my remarkable negotiation skills, I was able to take things down a few notches, and no limbs or claws were lost.

Just so you know, working with the big cats of the wild will make a woman out of you! I was forever changed, especially with the scuffle he had with a cheetah during a MAC campaign… I still have all my fingers, yea!

PP12: Lancôme Khol in love eye liner in chocolate affair

PP12: Lancôme Khol in love eye liner in chocolate affair

If you listened to the most recent MyLipAddition podcast, you would have heard me ranting about doing project Pan! I remain committed to this cause, but I have to admit, wearing the same makeup day in, day out, is really challenging when you have so lots of other options staring at you!

Today’s review is an item that is actually discontinued:

The Lancôme Khol in love eye liner in 101 chocolate affair was released as part of the spring 2013 In love collection, which featured charming Emma Watson:

I only picked up the eye liner from the collection, generally due to glowing reviews from RAEviewer (oh, the power of appeal gurus). But, I was pleased to have picked this one because I love this liner! and I’m really bummed that it was a limited edition formula.

First, I must address the spelling of “Khol” in the name. That’s how Lancôme spelled it. The proper way is “Kohl”. but I guess it’s creative license by the peeps at Lancôme.

It’s just a classic pencil liner, but the formula simply works with my eyes. I generally wear pencil liners on my lower lash line – for my upper lash line, I prefer a liquid or gel liner. Some pencil liners are really buttery smooth when I apply them, but they don’t stay put, or they tend to fade through the day. I’ve tried many liners from all the popular ones (Urban Decay, MAC, NYX etc) but this Lancome Khol in love is one of my all time favourites. Let’s compare some liners from my stash:

Note that I mostly use brown eye liners. I just don’t like the harshness of black on me. I wear brown, taupe, grey and often navy but rarely straight black liners. I chose brown / grey non-shimmery liners for comparison:

L to R:
• Dolly Wink Pencil eyeliner in Brown
• Shu Uemura drawing Pencil in M Dark brown 83
• Kat Von D Autograph liner in Immortal Love
• Lancôme drama Liqui-Pencil Longwear eyeliner in Pluie
• Lancôme Khol in love in chocolate Affair
• urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Smokeout
• NYX Slide On Pencil in brown Perfection
• Avon SuperShock in intense Brown
• MAC Powerpoint in Stubborn Brown

Yes, I have a minor problem with collecting eye liners too.

Every pencil applies smoothly – the most gel-like are Shu Uemura and Avon SuperShock – they nearly feel like liquid.

Here is the smudge test – I let the liners dry for about 5 minutes before smudging them. The top portion is smudged across with a cotton bud dipped in oil (to simulate my oily eyes!) and the bottom portion is smudged just with a dry cotton bud (to simulate rubbing).  Look at how the Shu Uemura, both Lancômes and the Avon just do NOT budge!  I will say though, having worn all of them, my preferred formulas are the Shu Uemura and Lancômes – I find the Avon to be really smeary and actually migrates onto my eyeballs.

This is me rubbing cleansing oil to remove the swatches – that Shu Uemura just refuse to quit!

Sadly, the Lancôme Khol in love eye liner itself is drying out and has shrunk away from the wooden casing:

This was a recent phenomenon – when I went to sharpen it (for the 3rd time considering that starting project Pan!), the lead fell ideal out! It’s still usable but I will toss this liner at the conclusion of project Pan, considering that I do have lots of other liners that I can use.

The Lancôme Khol in love eye liner is made in Germany (as is a lot of other eyeliners) and nearly all of the ones shown above are also made in Germany, even the Shu Uemura. The one exception is Dolly Wink, which is made in Japan.

I forgot to take a photo of the pencil on the scale… but it went down a bit from a recent sharpening:

After:

When I started the project, the pencil measured 9.8cm, it is now 8.3cm.

As usual, the items that showed changes in their weigh were the base products – the foundation and powder:

Blogmas 2016: holiday Mani – OPI Red Fingers & Mistletoes

Blogmas 2016: holiday Mani – OPI Red Fingers & Mistletoes

I went relatively common this year for my Christmas mani – a shimmery red polish. That’s typically what I believe of when I believe of the holidays!  I selected this partly since of the name, Red Fingers & Mistletoes:

This was part of the 2014 OPI holiday collection partnership with Gwen Stefani, which I got earlier this year at a discounted price.

OPI Red Fingers & Mistletoes is a rich somewhat cool-toned red with red as well as gold shimmer.

The formula is good – it’s quite fluid for a shimmer, I was expecting it to be thicker.

So I did experience a few of the polish pooling at the sides of my nails which needed clean up. other than that, I had no other issues.

This is certainly not a one coater, however 2 coats does the job.

I got compliments on this manicure – it’s truly eye catching particularly because I don’t wear colours such as this as well often.

And the random – not so random – product is this box of holiday cookies that I got from Connie when we satisfied up last weekend! She was so wonderful to bring everybody a box of cookies – including me, somebody she’s never satisfied before!

Most of these cookies are technically much more chocolate than cookie…

This box is about half gone now – my SO likes them too!
