What’s the longest You’ve ever spent on a makeup Look?

What’s the longest You’ve ever spent on a makeup Look?

I can’t believe I utilized to spend 2-3 hours on my makeup ALL THE TIME.

For that matter, I can’t believe I utilized to have 2-3 uninterrupted hours to spend on my makeup, LOL! That’s what I was doing a few years ago, putting in a few hours for each look, however I was in a hardcore discovering mode, as well as I was taking pics of whatever I did as well as discovered for MBB. as well as whenever a cam gets involved, my makeup always takes longer, since I’m trying to be additional cautious that whatever is symmetrical as well as that my illumination is right. Plus, I normally utilize a remote manage with the camera, as well as often it’s a struggle to get a respectable photo where I’m not blinking, fidgeting or cringing.

Hmm… The longest I’ve ever spent was most likely about three hours (!). I understand that I’ve spent a lot of of an entire afternoon before, however it was half learning, half playing.

These days, though, an hour is my max, as well as that’s normally when the Coywolf is sleeping. a lot of days, I spent 20 minutes.

But I absolutely miss doing the uber-glam stuff! I miss having additional time to play as well as paint my deal with as well as reveal myself, as well as I miss being able to say, “Hey, I did that!”

I truly have to keep in mind to routine some “me time” for one of these weekends coming up so I can lose myself in blending again. makeup is SO much FUN.

MAC Nutcracker sweet holiday 2016 gift Sets: The Gold Pigments and glitter Kit, and the Bronze Pigments and glitter kit

MAC Nutcracker sweet holiday 2016 gift Sets: The Gold Pigments and glitter Kit, and the Bronze Pigments and glitter kit

wearing Heritage Rouge Pigment and reflects Gold glitter from the MAC Nutcracker sweet Gold Pigments and glitter set on my eyes; Magic dust Powder in sweet Vision on my cheeks and MAC Matte Lipstick in leap of delight on my lips, all from the MAC Nutcracker sweet Collection
Baby love, the times, they are a-changin’, because for once I think I might actually be able to finish an entire jar of MAC Pigment. In my entire history of wearing MAC, I’ve never finished a jar.

You know that they’re big, right? They’re HUGE, but these minis are actually bite-sized and handleable.

There are two pigment and glitter sets in the new MAC Nutcracker sweet holiday collection, along with a bunch of other sets. one of them has a bronze theme, and the other one gold, but both sets are super cute.

If you don’t know anything about the MAC Pigments, basically, in a nutshell, they’re loose, concentrated eyeshadows and glitters, which, on the one hand, are terrific if you want big, flashy “Oh, hi there, look at me!” eyes that practically beam from across the room, but on the other hand, they’re messy.

That’s the main reason I don’t use them often… The permanent collection jars have a wide mouth, and FOOF! — I’m always tipping them over and getting glitter in my brows, my ear, my bra. It’s a mess.

But these mini jars have a smaller mouth, which makes them easier to handle. I just tap a little on a paper towel and pick it up from the towel with my brush, and if there’s any left over, I kind of scoot it back into the jar.

So, in the process of doing the look I’m wearing in these pics (I’m wearing the sweet Gold kit, BTW), I discovered that my new favorite thing in the whole wide world is inner corner glitter. It is basically the sh*t.

As a glitter person, I usually like to just splash it all over my eyes, but if you take a little of the glitter (here I’m wearing Gold Reflects, the gold glitter from the gold kit), pick it up with a wet brush (something like MAC fix +), and concentrate most of it in the inner corner and fade that out as you move toward the center of your lid, I think it looks really cool.

Maybe it’s just me, but I think it completely distracts from my dark circles while still being flashy and fun.

Between these two kits, I recognize several of the colors in the Gold kit, like Gold reflects glitter and Heritage Rouge, from the permanent line, but I don’t recognize anything in the Bronze kit, so if you’re looking for something more exclusive and unique, the Bronze kit might be the one to pick up.

Packaging-wise, both are SO Instagrammable. Like, I’m opening these drawers back and forth and thinking, “How am I gonna Boomarang this?” They’re very cute.

It’s hard to pick a favorite between the two… You know me — neutrals girl, and the Bronze kit has all of these wearable neutrals that you can just throw on with black cat liner and lashes, and bam! — you’re good, but I really love the Gold one because purplish red Heritage Rouge is bomb and looks terrific with gold glitter or liner.

There’s something about gold and that dark reddish purple that’s just so rich and festive and holiday to me.

I’m having a party working my way through these MAC holiday kits and sets. I hope the next ones are just as amazing as these two.

I have a new theme song

Have you been enjoying Luke Cage on Netflix? That show… It’s stylistically interesting, and I think the character development is great. Yes, it’s superheroes, so it helps if you’re into that, but it’s really interesting superheroes.

During the episodes, there’s this one character who looks like Wesley Snipes, and I know he’s not Wesley Snipes, but I keep calling him Wesley Snipes.

Anyway, he owns a club, and he sits there in his club enjoying performers rehearse. Well, the performers are real artists. Like, faith Evans was in a recent episode, and this guy who I’d never heard before named Jidenna. He did a performance called long live the Chief.

I’ve been having a rough couple of weeks (no big deal), but in the mornings I put on this song. The lyrics are explicit, so I don’t listen to it with little children around, but I crank it up every morning in my headphones and dance around like a fool in my office.

It helps! I feel like a bad-@ss chick when I hear it. It makes me feel like I could swim the English channel in my skivvies.

Nail polish Chit-Chat: What colors Do You wear the Most?

That moment when you recognize that you wear a great deal of infant blue nail polish…
Ever because difficult candy sky in the ’90s, I’ve been a blue nail polish girl.

Actually, now I’m a greenish blue/blueish green/blue/green nail polish girl. Those are certainly the color families I wear the most.

Oh, as well as purple. I’ll sprinkle a purple up in there from time to time. So blues, greens as well as purples are the shades I wear the most, as well as to get even much more rambly on ya, I barely ever wear orange nail polish. It doesn’t truly do anything for me at all. Neither does beige nor tan.

Desperately seeking Persistent Polish: 7 Days With Sally Hansen color therapy Bronze reflection

Desperately seeking Persistent Polish: 7 Days With Sally Hansen color therapy Bronze reflection

Sally Hansen color therapy in Bronze reflection ($7.99)
In the Desperately seeking Persistent polish series, I wear a different nail polish for seven days, and take before and after pics to file the condition of my paws over the course of the week!

I keep thinking that I’m going to run into a dud one of these days from Sally Hansen color Therapy, because, hello! — when do you ever find a nail polish line where every. single. polish. you try consistently delivers the goods?

This week was certainly NOT that week, because Bronze reflection was one of the best-performing shades I’ve tried from color therapy so far. I feel like I say that every week about color therapy these days (hey, Karen broken record much?), but when something’s worth raving about, I’m gonna rave about it!

Bronze Reflection, which lists for $7.99, is all the things I’d expect to find in a Chanel cult nail color (except for price, of course). It has finer-than-fine micro-glitter, and it’s startlingly complex. just like *that*, it shifts from pinkish bronze to a cranberry tinged with rose gold to a buttery yellow brass. It’s like all of the colors of autumn leaves squeezed into a bottle. and to top it off, you can wear it sheer — and it’ll look purposefully sheer, and not patchy or poorly pigmented — or you can go completely opaque like I did in these pics. It’s SO flexible.

Here’s how it held up throughout the week:

Day 1

Day 7

I wore it with two coats of the same Smith & Cult Base coat and top coat I’ve been using with all of the polishes in the 7 Days series.

Technically, I wore this mani for eight full days this time. Bronze reflection is a beast!

Oh, and after a two-month exercise hiatus (Connor started preschool, and at least one person in our little family has been sick at any given moment the entire time, no joke!), I was finally well enough to get back in the gym this week, and I had Bronze reflection on my nails. It was so resilient that it lasted through three brutal HIIT sessions with totally free weights, pull-ups, triceps dips with Equalizer bars, and ungodly amounts of burpies and push-ups. It’s really fantastic 1) how rapidly one falls out of shape, and 2) how brutal gym equipment is on your mani.

This line is SO good, you guys.

I’m broken as to whether I ought to keep searching for another long-lasting formula to love in the name of charm experimentation, or stick to the color therapy line. What do you think? Inquiring nails want to know.

Makeup as well as charm blog Monday Poll, Vol. 542

So…what is the Monday Poll?

Good question! It isn’t, as opposed to its name, an actual poll. It’s just a listing of five much more or less random concerns I’ve been publishing on this blog every Monday morning for the past gazillion years (more than 10!). I like reading your answers, as well as it assists me get my week off to a fantastic start. ?

1. What’s your present pedicure situation?

It’s quite dire as well as has been for a month. Unpainted toe nails as well as scraggly cuticles FOR DAYS, man.

But on the glass-half-full side, I’ve been great about shaving my toe hairs as well as moisturizing, ha ha ha! ?

I requirement to go to the nail beauty salon ASAP since while I might quickly do my own pedi, I never feel like I have a long sufficient block of time at house to sit still as well as really DO THEM, ya know?

2. has an animal ever pooped on you?

Oh, for sure, numerous times. I’ve been pooped on by birds. Twice. when was in middle institution while I was walking to English class, as well as once again in high institution while we were eating lunch outside one day. (Side note: To make band noise even much more geeky than it really is/was, many of the band nerds in my high institution ate lunch at the tables best next to the band room. It’s like we couldn’t be away from our instruments for as well long or we’d melt.)

And in my adult life, both of the bit animals I currently serve have “number two-ed” on me several times.

3. Resting BF, side eye, or eye roll?

Eye roll, ya’ll! It’s what I do best. ?

4. Gym, tanning, or laundry?

Hmm… seeing as exactly how I’m currently doing a tons of laundry as I’m typing this (WHEN AM I NOT DOING laundry THOUGH?!), as well as I’m already tan, I’m going to pick gym…but only if you pronounce it like “YIM.” ?

5. Fish tail or french braid?

Neither. Dutch braid all the way.

BONUS QUESTION: have you ever taken candy from a stranger?

Ya know…I practically reflexively stated no to this, however then I believed about it. There have been numerous times when I’ve sat next to people on planes or in lectures at institution as well as they provided me a stick of gum or a Tic Tac, as well as I accepted. Also, technically, those women who work behind the counter at See’s candies are strangers, as well as I gleefully take candy from them.

Also, Halloweens. I don’t understand all of the people in all of the homes we’ve gone to.

So, my response is yes.

Sorry, Mom! Apparently, all of those warnings were for naught.

Pumpkin madness has begun

OK, now that we’ve officially made it to mid-September, I feel like I can succumb to the pumpkin madness surrounding me.

I even have a plan!

I like these small ones.
They kinda look like garlic, yeah?
Someone has extremely strong opinions about pumpkins.
Don’t laugh. (OK, you can completely laugh.) I’m going to embellish our living space with joyful pumpkins since I believe that if you ever have an chance to embellish your house with plants from the Cucurbitaceae family, you have to take it.

And I want ALL THE PUMPKINS!

Well…except for this one.

Freaking me out!
What state you — adorable or creepy? taking a look at it makes my skin tingle (and not in a great way), as well as I feel like slathering myself with Lubriderm.

The urban Decay X Kristen Leanne Collection Daydream palette

The urban Decay X Kristen Leanne Collection Daydream palette

A. Cake frosting (*nods enthusiastically*)
B. Body lotion
C. Shaving cream

Incidentally, that show is like chicken soup (with baked homemade crackers) for the soul. It’s practically a cure for the common cold, but I digress…

Got a Daydream on my lids and lash lines…
Isn’t this palette cute? When you open it up, there are five warm neutral powder eyeshadows inside.

Daydream is part of the new urban Decay X Kristen Leanne collection, which is available now. It’s a collab between UD and spunky, cruelty-free makeup-loving YouTuber Kristen Leanne. In a nutshell, she has colorful hair, she loves rainbow looks, she’s got tattoos, and she owns a hair color company called Arctic Fox that’s all about mermaid and unicorn colors…so she’s all about color.

There are two eye palettes in the collection — a colorful one and a neutral one. The latter, of course, is the one I wanted to try first.

Warm neutral prettiness

My fave colors when I was a kid were purple and pink (and purple is still one of ’em).
All-matte Daydream (which is $26) and urban Decay naked basics fill the same niche, but while naked basics has six long-wearing matte powder shadows, all of which are on the cooler side, Daydream has five. but both palettes can be used in essentially the same ways.

With naked Basics, you get several similar tones that are just distinct enough from each other that you can easily whip out beautiful, bad-@ss gradients with ease.

That’s also the case with Daydream. It has three similar shades near the middle of the palette — Daydream, which is a light warm tan; 12/12, which is a warm coral-y peach; and Subscribe, which is a mid-toned orange-brown something like MAC Saddle.

Hello, gradients, here we come!
All three colors are close enough to create cohesive gradients with, but they’re distinct enough that you can still tell that they’re different colors.

Basically, they make it easy to do a gradient on your lids.

You can use the two other shades — beige Lucy and dark purplish chocolate brown eight — to accent your looks. I use Lucy to highlight and eight to line my lash lines (it looks really pretty layered with MAC Teddy, Prunella or Costa Riche liners, by the way).

Lucy, Daydream, 12/12, Subscribe and Eight
The thing about these shadows, though… The “catch,” so to speak, is that even though they don’t exhibit fallout, and they’re so easy to blend, it’s very tempting to just keep going and going and putting on much more and more, because they’re too much fun to blend! — so they tend to look a little heavy on my lids. Consequently, because I can’t control myself, the powders look obvious, like they’re just chilling on top, and my fine lines look bolder than I’d like.

But…I mean, if you have self control, which I’m sure you do, you’ll be fine.

I’m also wearing the charm Beam highlight palette (cheeks) and Bun Bun Lipstick (lips), also from the UD X Kristen Leanne collection.
The palette is $26, so it isn’t one of the most expensive palettes out there, but it isn’t drugstore either. It is, however, versatile. You can use it by itself and/or with any of your favorite colorful or glittery palettes and shades.

Also, if you wear orange-brown tones well, you’ll have tons of fun with it. It’s available at urban Decay, Sephora, Ulta and select Macy’s now.

Fenty charm by Rihanna pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear foundation

Fenty charm by Rihanna pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear foundation

A bit much more than consumed with this.
Normally, I would recommend caution when hugging total strangers, however if I ever run into Rihanna at the fitness center (I can totes see Riri doing squats) or TJ’s, I’m going to walk as much as that woman as well as provide her the tightest freaking bear hug. I don’t even care if her people jujitsu me as well as take my @ss to the floor. I’ll take that risk! since I want to personally say thanks to her for releasing her new Fenty foundation. I believe it’s life changing. It’s really, really, truly good.

When I heard it would be offered in 40 shades (OMG!), I was like, “OK, Riri, I’m not sure if I totally purchase into the whole star makeup line thing, however I SEE YOU, GURL.” as well as I appreciate what you did. I mean, who releases a foundation in 40 shades? You understand in addition to I do exactly how difficult it is to discover a ideal undertone match, particularly for women as well as gents at the extreme ends of the light/dark spectrum.

So numerous shades…
Then I took it for a test run as well as officially leveled as much as R.S.S. (Rihanna Stalker Status).

Fenty charm pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear foundation is a $34 medium-to-full protection liquid foundation that is available in a 1.08-oz. glass bottle with a pump.

Now, can I vent about my new pet peeve? I can’t stand it when foundation leaks out of a pump applicator after I utilize it. It occurs with a great deal of foundation pumps, including this one, I’m unfortunate to say, as well as I’m a grumpy-grump about it since I don’t like wasting product. NOT even A DROP.

Seriously, why can’t business figure out exactly how to stop foundation pumps from leaking?? somebody needs to resolve this pressing issue as well as develop a much better mousetrap. Then, provide me a fat cut of the proceeds, since y’all gonna make millions. I’m just saying.

And so numerous undertones! (Please note the pump with the foundation oozing out of it.)

I wear this foundation in shade 310, which is a bit warm for me, however it’s a quite close match. For reference, I’m a MAC NC42 with dry cheeks as well as an oily T-zone. Occasionally, I likewise break out.

Application

After shaking the bottle to mix it up, apply it with a brush, a dampened makeup sponge or your fingers. I like utilizing my fingers since they warm up the liquid, making it much more fluid-like, as well as I can truly manage exactly how much I utilize (rather, exactly how little, because I don’t like to apply a ton of foundation) as well as press the product into my skin.

Ooh! — try mixing equal parts of this with the Fenty primer (one word: excellent), as well as then apply the mix with your fingers. I do that sometimes, too.

Shade 310
Wait for it to dry

It takes about a minute to totally dry down as well as expose this shade’s true color, because, at least on me, it oxidizes a bit (just a very, extremely little).

Soft matte finish

The surface is soft as well as matte like a very subtle satin. It’s not a pearl, as well as it doesn’t shimmer, however it does have much more oomph than a routine matte. I believe it makes skin look like it was just washed, dried as well as kissed by a wonderful makeup angel, #blessed.

Haha!

Wearing shade 310. See exactly how the “after” side looks much more even-toned as well as matte?
Your skin will still look like skin

I can still still see my freckles after utilizing one layer, as well as Julian the pimple is mainly covered, however not totally covered. It starts at medium coverage, which you can likewise develop with extra layers. any type of redness or unevenly pigmented areas are gone. My skin tone looks uniform, my pores look smaller, as well as my fine lines look softer. It produces a smoother canvas, however my skin still appears like skin.

Here’s 310 with a full deal with of Fenty makeup — the primer, concealer, two shimmer match Stix (Yacht Lyfe as well as Rum) as well as the Gloss Bomb.
You can quickly keep building as much as full protection if you utilize two or three layers, however I feel like the foundation starts to lose a few of its wonderful power at that point, since the much more you put on, the much more apparent it looks.

It’s crazy sweat-proof!

It was virtually a sauna right here last weekend. It was really, truly hot, however this foundation still looked totally intact late Saturday afternoon.

Like a pumped-up version of MAC next to Nothing

I believe one more thing I like about this foundation is that it looks so much like MAC next to nothing deal with Colour, which I likewise love. Both of them feel like next to nothing, steer remove of my fine lines, smooth my pores, as well as do the whole “I failed to remember I was using makeup!” thing.

The major diff between them is that Fenty’s foundation ismedium-to-full coverage, as well as MAC next to nothing goes from sheer to medium.

Hell, yes!
